Things discovered today while sitting at home waiting for guys to come fix the heat/hot water and awaiting phone calls from assignments:
1) Poynter is doing a “why I write” meme via twitter. Mallary Jean Tenore writes:
For Joan Didion, it’s a way to find meaning. “I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means,” Didion wrote in her “Why I Write” essay, based loosely on Orwell’s essay with the same name.
So now we want to hear from you: Why do you write?
The hashtag page includes:
s_watson: I have to download my brain every day and writing is the fastest way to do it. That is, until someone creates a human usb port [like Avatar?]
alexismadrigal: Mostly for money. #WhyIWrite (Just kidding.)
I’ll contribute: because I’m better at describing the world around me than taking part in it #whyIwrite
2) Someone created a snuggie sutra site:
The Night In
She puts her arms through the sleeves and reads. She’s minding her own business. He is also minding her business.
subhede for the site: “You have a Snuggie. You have sex. This was inevitable.” Do they have a book deal yet? What do you think?
The fact that Snuggie Sutra has a book coming out already and I’m huddled unshowered in a freezing kitchen corner digging through a historical society municipal government presentation is #whyIwrite.
