Friday Happy: Maybe you will have a girl tonight

Just one of the happiest things to come out of YouTube in awhile. Jenny Lewis joins Belle and Sebastian to sing “Lazy Line Painter Jane” on stage in Hollywood on Oct. 3.

I took this pic of Rilo Kiley in 2005. Somehow it's still on Webshots today.

This is one of this blog’s favorite B&S songs, if not the favorite (yes I’m twee as fuck, don’t make me choose). And for all the musical soul-searching Jenny Lewis has been going through lately, she’ll always hold a special place in my heart. That special place, by the way, is called “Indefatigable Indie Rock Crush.” Of course, like any good indie rocker, this crush started waaaaay before she hit the mainstream.

My old roommate treated us to tickets to the B&S show on the Williamsburg waterfront on my birthday a few weeks ago, which turned out to be the band’s first NY gig in four years, a feat so significant they even asked god (a co-producer on all of the band’s albums) to hold off on the predicted major monsoon, giving us instead what turned out to be quite a pleasant fall evening on the riverside. I had hoped to hear the above song, but the video goes a long way to make up for it.
